I do consulting and contracting work in systems engineering, telecommunications, Sonet/SDH standards, and fiber optic multiplexing.

From 1991 to 1994 I worked on a free-lance consulting basis, and in 1994 I worked at AT&T Bell Labs as a contractor before being rehired as a regular employee.

Systems engineering

I have worked as a systems engineer for over 15 years, in telecommunications and fiber optics. Before that I worked in digital signal processing applications. I was employed at Bell Laboratories (AT&T, and Lucent Technologies) until July 2001.

University and industrial teaching & technical training

Much of my consulting activity has consisted of teaching and technical training, both university and industrial. I taught a variety of adult students, technical and non-technical, of varying levels of educational attainment and work experiences. The major challenge is to tailor the materials to the wide variety of students within the same class.
