Passing of Pat DonvitoMy father passed away 21 May 2001, a great loss to all of his family, friends, and colleagues. His work as an economic consultant spanned much of the 20th century, with contributions in
He was employed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, CA and Bethesda, MD. As an independent consultant he worked for the coal industry, the National Bureau of Standards, the Mitre Corporation, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and others. He served as President, Treasurer, and member of the Board of the National Economists Club. His community work included teaching religious education at Blessed Sacrament parish in Washington, DC, and teaching English as a second language at the Sacred Heart Adult Education Center in Washington.
Pat Donvito's writingsMy father enjoyed writing. Much of his professional work involved writing on economics, cost-benefit analysis, and planning. Later in life he wrote about 5 volumes of memoirs, covering his early life growing up in Harrisburg, Penn., his farm in Gettysburg, Penn., and his experiences in Washington, DC, where he lived most of his life.
