I DO believe in God.

    Let's start with what we Know about God. Let's peruse through the Old Testament, shall we? In the Beginning, there was Adam and Eve. God told them not to eat the Apple.

    So he Banished them for all eternity from Paradise. But Why?
If you Buy into the Party Line, God is Good, All Knowing, and All Powerful. God Made Man in His own Image and gave man Free will, but didn't give us the knowledge necessary to Control Said free will. So when Adam Eats the Apple, Why does God get so Pissed at Him? Why not place the blame Squarely where it Belongs, on the Serpent?

Because God wanted us to be Stupid, Like Sheep. That's Fact #1.
The Bible Even refers to Humanity as Sheep- in Numerous Places.

The Quest for Knowledge is an Affront to God.
The Desire to be More like God is the Original sin.

Noah: He Flooded the WHOLE frikkin' world, saving only a few people. He Punished countless Helpless animals for Man's sins. That's some serious vengeance.

Babel: They Build a tower, Ostensibly to be as High as God.
God Destroys the Tower, scatters the people all over the world. Further proof that God HATES it when we Try to Compete with Him. Understandable.

Sodom And Gomorrah: Fire Raining from the Sky. More Vengeance.
God is One Angry Deity.

    So Why do I think God has Abandoned Us?
According to the Good Book, God Loves the World... So much so that he sent us his Only Son! Why would he Abandon his Greatest Creation?

Here's why I think God has Given Up:
He told us Not to Eat the Apple, We disobeyed. He Kicked us out of Paradise forever. We kept Sinning.
He Saw us Sinning, He flooded the world. We continued to sin.
He Crushed the tower, Scattered the people. We still Sin.
He Rained Fire from the Sky, We didn't take the Hint.
He Gave us Commandments to follow, we disobey some more.

    So If you believe what we KNOW about God from the old testament, That God is Vengeful, then shouldn't it Follow that when we Killed his Child, he would do Something?
Where was the fire? The Brimstone? The Pain? The Punishment?
It didn't happen.
    He Sent us his only son to show us the way, and we Tortured him. Nailed him to some Chunks of wood, hung him on a hill for all to see. Let him die a horrible death, reserved for only the worst criminals of His Day.

    God saw us sinning and tried a new Approach, He sent us a savior... and we Screwed him over again. Perhaps in the Most Unbelievably insulting way we could.

    Think about the things we've done since we killed Christ... The Crusades. We've violated the Commandments he Gave us, In His Name. How insulting is that?
    The Witch Hunts. The Malleus Maleficarum. We tortured and Killed women and men, forcing them to Bear false witness against their neighbors... again, in his name.
    The Inquisition. More Hatred, Killing, and Torture in his name.
    Even The Free-Love of the 60s! Why was there no Sulfur Raining down on Woodstock? Or the Haight-Ashebury? Surely the wild orgies of that decade must have been as evil as what was going on at Sodom and Gomorrah.

    And here we are Today. Making ourselves Gods. Hurtling towards Knowledge, unchecked by Him.
    We split the Atom, releasing Horrific destruction. It wasn't good enough.
    We Split The Nucleus of the Atom, flooding the world with Fear, Hatred, and radiation.
    Mustard Gas, Sarin, Anthrax.
    We've decided for ourselves when Life Begins. We begin Killing Children before they are born- Rationalizing that, If they're Still Attached, then They're Not "Technically" Alive. Some people think that it's Against the law to Kill a viable third Trimester fetus... They're wrong. In Some states you need to Have the "permission" of a Doctor to abort a third trimester Baby. Considering abortions are performed by doctors, these laws don't hold much weight. We Give Doctors the Power to decide Life and death. A very Godlike Power indeed.
    Then Again, Even the Pro-Lifers are getting in on the Act- Judging, then violating God's Law by Killing the killers. Where is their Faith in God? Don't they have Faith That God sends killers to burn in the eternal depths of Hell? Does God Not punish the Wicked? "Judge not, lest ye be Judged" Right?
    We're Cracking the very Code to our own Genetic Make up, playing with Cloning, flirting with genetic tampering. We've Made ourselves closer and closer to God with each Step, Challenging him at every turn, Daring Him to unleash a touch of The Old School Fury we should be expecting.

    But God isn't Bothering to Punish us. He Already tried that! It didn't work!
    Punishing us didn't work, Rewarding us didn't work, So God did what any Frustrated Parent would Do.
