MPI Home Video has now added both house of Dark Shadows (MPDSV1) and Night of Dark Shadows (MPDSV2) to their line of Dark Shadows merchandise. It is also possible to purchase the entire 1225 episodes of the original daytime series, as well as compilations tapes featuring various aspects of the show. A compilation of particular interest with regard to the DS films is Dark Shadows: Behind The Scenes which, being a complete history of the DS phenomenon, features a TV promo for each film. So, be sure to check out MPI's Dark Shadows Home Page. Both films are also available on laserdisk through MGM/UA.
Robert Cobert's haunting score to both films is now available on the Original Motion Picture Soundtracks: House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows CD from Rhino Movie Music. The packaging and accompanying 28 page booklet feature over 50 photographs, behind the scenes trivia, and more. More information about this CD is available online through In Your Ear Music's DS movies soundtrack's Web page.
Also of note to DS movie buffs is Dark Shadows: The 30th Anniversary Collection CD, which features rare house of Dark Shadows radio spots, as well as an ALTernate version of Quentin's Theme produced for, but never used in Night of Dark Shadows. This CD is also highlighted in an In Your Ear Music Web page.
There are three books available through Pomegranate Press which partly focus on the DS movies. The Dark Shadows Companion is a complete history of the show. One entire chapter exclusively details the DS movies' backround - from their inception through release. The Dark Shadows Almanac features trivia and behind the scenes anecdotes pertaining to the series and films. Both books contain many rare photos from each film. The Dark Shadows Music Book has piano arrangements for many of Robert Cobert's most popular DS compositions, some of which are used in the DS films.
