[Two Sides Of Angelique] [Alex's Warning] [Page Bottom]
The original draft of the Night of Dark Shadows script calls for Alex to play an active role in both uncovering the history of Angelique and Charles as well as explaining the truth behind Quentin's "visions", as can be seen in the following two scenes:
Immediately following the scene outside the greenhouse in which Tracy begins to reveal to Alex the events of the previous night, there was to have been a scene where Alex explains to Quentin what he has learned about events in the 1810 Collinwood residents' lives. His discovery of this information provides the motive for Angelique's attempt to kill Alex in the greenhouse. As the story now plays, that motive is somewhat left to the audience's imagination.
Night of Dark ShadowsScript Excerptas Quentin listens to Alex, a look of disbelief on his face. Yes, she disappeared. Now don't look at me that way. I got there only seconds after. And she was gone. Then the whole place fell on my head.

Incidently, before Tracy joins Quentin in the gallery, Alex and Tracy do discuss how Quentin's behavior is changing. And while he does not reveal his suspicions, Alex does, however, encourage Tracy to find some way to check out the tower room. Both are unaware that Carlotta is watching them, and it is her suspicions regarding their talk that further infuriate and motivate Carlotta when she learns Quentin will no longer be painting in the tower room.
