Well, the answer quite simply is of course there was! The Night of Dark Shadows script originally called for the audience to see exactly what Tracy's impromptu arrival had interrupted in the tower room. And it will probably come as no surprise to learn that Quentin had been working on Charles Collins' unfinished portrait while what the script termed "the strangely opalescent Angelique" posed for him. Also, Quentin's musing about how he could have ever thought she was just a dream were to have been intercut with shots of the two in "sexual ecstacy," as the script notes so descriptively put it!
