Ed Sprague cracked 3 homeruns and had 9 RBI as the Boston RedSox ballclub
embarrassed the Texas Rangers by the count of 17 to 6.
Sprague punished Texas with his bat. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the
2nd inning, blasted a solo shot in the 4th inning, clubbed a three-run home
run (his 21st of the season) in the 5th inning, tripled which was good for
two runs in the 5th inning and banged out a single in the 8th inning. Boston
bats were hot in the 2nd inning with 4 runs on 3 hits and the 5th inning
which saw them plate 10 runs on 9 hits. Boston out-hit Texas for the game,
19 hits to 10.
Darren Oliver(14-12) went 8 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Denny
Neagle(5-6) was charged with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 3 and
2/3 innings.
'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate today' Sprague said
after the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with the results!'
