Shawn Green hit for the cycle and had 2 RBI at Comerica Park as the Toronto
Blue Jays beat the lifeless Detroit Tigers in 13 innings 6 to 4.
The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Toronto ended up
winning it in the 13th inning. Mike Bordick kicked off the action when he
stroked a single. After an out was recorded, Garret Anderson came to the
plate and doubled. Green then cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his
52nd of the season). Toronto kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning
which saw them plate 2 runs on 3 hits and the 13th inning with 2 runs on 3
hits. Detroit was out-hit by Toronto, 20 hits to 11.
The win went to Matt Herges(2-2) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Herges was helped out by Billy Koch who recorded his 19th save. Nate
Cornejo(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief.
