Left fielder Karim Garcia rocketed 3 homeruns and Barry Zito struck out 10
batters as the Anaheim Angels defeated the Seattle Mariners by a score of 8
to 2 at Edison Int'l Field.
Garcia enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He blasted a solo shot in the 2nd
inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 4th inning and lofted a
solo-blast 'downtown' (his 26th of the season) in the 6th inning. Anaheim
had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.
The win went to Zito(12-7) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Curt
Schilling(13-5) was hit with the loss. He allowed 7 homeruns in 8 innings of
work.
When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Zito offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it
would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
