Course Requirements

Project 1: Due on Friday 7/25/03
Using Blackboard.com create an on-line learning environment to be used
in the 03-04 school year.
Project 2: Due on Friday 7/25/03
Set up and understand how to use your FirstClass web home page then create
at least one simple page. Print the page and make sure your name is on
the page.
Project 3: Due on Thursday 7/24/03

Blackboard Issues
We will be using a free 60 day trial account for this course. At the end
of the 60 days Needham will either issue a PO for your account, get the
account extended or offer you space on a different Blackboard server (I
will give you more details).
Backup all your work in case it needs to be moved to a new server.

Blackboard introduction, registration and Q & A
Lab: Blackboard registration and exploration
For tomorrow: (1) Bring in images for scanning. (2) Look over the
first two chapters but read 173-181 from The Non-Designers Web
Book.
Day 2
Lab: Explore different sites. Gather URLs for links. Explore
the Blackboard links area.
Review session one topics -- Q and A
Use FirstClass to make simple web pages for you.
Lab: Set up you home page in FirstClass
Image production
Graphic converter
Color table (see last page of book)
Picts, Gifs, and JPEGs
Use of scanners
Clip art
ClarisWorks drawing and painting
Images from the web
Lab: Blackboard work on your site
For tomorrow: (1) Read chapters 5 and 6 (pages 89-124) from The
Non-Designers Web Book.
Day 3
Lab: work on your Blackboard site and/or FirstClass web site
Finish Image production and review day 2 topics -- Q and A.
Day 4
Lab: Work on your site Blackboard and/or FirstClass web site
Day 5
Lab: Web page production
Web pages will be presented to the class.
