Experience:

7/99 - 2/01: Ibax, Inc., New York, NY

Chief Techical Officer. Developed an online B2B E-Commerce trading system ( http://www.ibax.com) as well as related sites (most notably, eStudioNetworks at http://www.estudionetwork.com). Responsible for choosing technology strategies, and for developing complex web-based applications, complete with database integeration, automatic email, upload and download capabilities, and backend accounting administration and tracking abilities.

  • Determined the overall techology and growth strategies for both Ibax and eStudioNetworks.
  • Developed web site prototypes and expanded them into working sites with an established user base.
  • Developed an RFP (Request for proposal) bidding engine, first in ASP/VBScript, then migrated into Java/JSP.
  • Designed and developed a Remote Access API, allowing other web sites to integrate account creation and management into the Ibax web site and database.
  • Integrated the RFP engine into the eStudioNetworks website.

2/89 - 5/99: Computer Masters, Inc. New York, NY

Owner of incorporated consultancy business. Projects have ranged from simple hardware and software installations to complex software engineering. Clients have ranged from individuals and small business to large Investment Banks and Educational Institutions. All projects are full time unless otherwise stated, and include:

Pixelpark, Inc., New York, September 1998 - May 1999. Developed transaction processing software for the Museum of Modern Art's online Web store, using PERL 5.0, Sybase SQL 11.x and Intershop extended HTML. URLs: http://store.moma.org, http://www.pixelpark.com.

  • Wrote a back-end transaction processing system that gathered new orders from the Web store database and automatically input them into MoMA's existing AS/400 order processing system.
  • Extended Web store capabilities to include custom pricing on Membership and Catalog orders using PERL scripting.
  • Tracked and debugged several errors in Intershop, and wrote work-around code to stabilize the Web store and eliminate errors from customer orders.

Stichting Academisch Rekencentrum Amsterdams, The Netherlands, July 1998 - September 1998. Designed and wrote an API for an enhanced version of the Java educational system developed earlier (see second reference, below).

  • Created an extensive web site documenting the new API as well as the existing code.
  • Trained and supported a new programmer working in The Netherlands via the Internet.
  • Incorporated state-of-the-art Java technology in the design, including RMI, database storage of the code, and multi-user capabilities in the lesson content.

TradeView, Inc., New York, April 1998 - June 1998. Developed a prototype for an online goods and materials trading system using Microsoft's Active Server Pages, SQL Server 6.5, and ADO running under Windows NT 4.0.

  • Implemented Web-based form handling, including input into SQL Server and output from SQL Server based on web page commands.
  • Extensive SQL scripting, including automatic electronic mail based on input from Web Forms.
  • Installation and configuration of all servers, including MS Exchange/Outlook, SQL Server and IIS.

Stichting Academisch Rekencentrum Amsterdams, The Netherlands, September 1997 - February 1998. Developed Java educational software for use in the Amsterdam Public School system.   • Created a Java Applet to display interactive games, animations, and question-and-answer problems.
  • Designed a content specification language to allow text files to be used to layout exercises and screens.
  • Created a Java server-side database interface, to handle simultaneous internet connections from Java Applets, and to track student scores.

Smith Barney, New York, April 1997-July 1997. Developed automated Word for Windows and MS Execl templates for Coporate Finance Deal Document preparation.

  • Created custom commands to format paragraphs and page layouts.
  • Created an automatic table formatter to take raw tables and transform them to Investment Banking standards.
  • Created a Chart Wizard in Excel to generate complex graphs from large amounts of financial data.

New York University, New York, December 1996 - March 1997. Developed automated Word for Windows form templates for downloading and inter-office use by the Human Resources Department.

  • Developed input and data verification routines to allow forms to be filled in using Word for Windows.
  • Developed import routines to insert and update drop-down lists from external FoxPro databases.
  • Forms designed for stand-alone or LAN use, and can be downloaded from NYU's web site (http://www.nyu.edu/personnel/forms).
  • Trained NYU staff to maintain current forms and create new ones.

Audrey Cohen College, New York, Full and Part Time, April 1996 - November 1996. Set up two student computer centers using Windows NT, Windows 95 and Windows 3.1.

  • Configured Windows NT 3.51 server to provide login verification.
  • Configured Windows 95 workstations to use system access profiles and limit student access to hardware and software.
  • Created custom login and logout scripts using Visual BASIC to load and remove student documents.
  • Trained staff and faculty in use of Windows 95 and Office 95.
  • Provided support on an as-needed basis to center administrators.

Evolution Online Systems, Inc., December 1994 - July 1995. Development of C++, SQL and Windows/PC software for an Internet Access System built for the Dutch PTT (Planet Internet). URL: http://www.evolution.com/ and http://www.pi.net.

  • Developed custom C++ billing software interfaced to a Sybase database and a customized credit card telecommunications gateway, running under Solaris 2.3 UNIX.
  • Project Manager for a staff of 3 programmers working on UNIX/Internet server software.
  • Extensive client contact, including six weeks on-site in Holland installing, modifying and testing software.
  • Migrated C++ packet driver code from SPARC C++ to Visual C++, as a custom control (VBX).
  • Developed and debugged SQL stored procedures to handle tracking of users logging in and out of the system.

Chase Manhattan Bank, New York, June 1993 - August 1994. Development of Word For Windows templates to automate Deal Document preparation. Features include:

  • Peer-to-peer LAN contention routines to provide unique file names among all running instances of Word For Windows.
  • Layout and graphics routines to simplify complex text and graphics placement.
  • Simultaneous printing to multiple printers.
  • Installation software written in Visual BASIC.

Lehman Brothers Investment Banking, New York, September 1992 - June 1993. Designed and developed templates to automate document preparation and editing using Word for Windows and Excel for Windows.

  • Created add-in templates in Excel to support drawing and charting, and to allow sizing and fine-placement of graphics.
  • Created several Excel databases to analyze and tabulate production and back office data.
  • Trained two programmers in Windows API use, GUI standards and general programming methodology.
  • Automated compound document preparation after evaluating Windows object linking and embedding technology.

New York Life, New York, June 1991 - March 1992. Designed and developed a large local-area network application using MS-Excel to automate insurance policy renewals.

  • Automated document management features including file naming, file locking and file sharing features.
  • Integrated DOS Net BIOS commands into Excel to provide user identification and access security.
  • Responsible for proto-typing of Excel applications as well as development of an Excel standard.
  • Coordinated Excel and Word development for several teams including sharing of code, techniques and ideas.

Consultant, Programmer. Worked with MS Basic, SCO/Lyrix, and custom hardware systems.

5/87-1/88: Katz Media Data, New York, NY

Applications programmer. Wrote a TV Advertising Planning system in MS C, integerated with their IBM mainframe systems.

1/86-5/87: Interactive Market Systems, New York, NY

Applications programmer. Wrote a TV Media Campaign analysis system in MS Pascal.

9/83-10/85: Academic Computing Facility, New York University.

Computer operator and site manager. Managed a variety of Mini and Mainframe Computers, including IBM, CDC, HP and DEC Vax systems.
