An Event, All Must Attend!

Here's Liz at the entrance to the Jazz Fest. Programs can be purchased on the right. The program is a well designed guide that list all the performers and the time and date of their performance. It also has a generous supply of food discount coupons. It makes great reading material when you get home and also pumps you up for the next year.

The first thing we did was head for the food tent. On the plane trip down I was raving about the food at the Fest to Liz. Being that we both enjoy good food, we headed there first. Some of our favorites where the Softshell Crab Po-Boys, Crawfish Monica and of course Jambalaya. One local guy described the food for me,"take some food prepare it in a crazy way and sell it at the Jazz Fest." I thought that the food was a major part of the Jazz Fest and found it to be some of the best I've tasted.

This is me eating one of those delicious softshell crabs. I believe Liz and I had at least 2 a day during our stay. Hey nice bandana!

What would the Jazz Fest be without music. Here's my favorite performer of the show, Ivan Neville. Ivan is the son of the great Arron Neville. Ivan's music is a mixture of rock and blues with a little bit of funk mixed in. In my opinion, Ivan is one of the best songwriters of today's music. If you want to hear some great music pick up his CD's titled "Primative Man" and "Thanks". I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

This long shot shows you the popularity of this event. The last day of the event attracts the most people. This shot was taken while BB King was doing what he does best...play the blues. Bring a blanket and some plastic. (in case it rains it always does and some suntan lotion.)

Rain it did. During the afternoon on Thursday, May 4th, it rained buckets. Many of us retreated to stages with tents, while some put on rain gear but most just stood there and got wet. When you're at Jazz Fest you don't care. "Let the rain fall as hard as it wants" said, Liz. She didn't care. I didn't either.
James Taylor played an incrediable set during this years downpour. In '94 Robert Cray played a fantastic set in another. Anyone who went remembers it clearly. "The Forecast Calls For (Rain)"

Quick-get me a fishing pole! Here's what happens after it rains. It's swimming and mud slides for all. Rain and all, it's the best time of your life!

Thanks for viewing the Jazz Fest '95 Page. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making it. Remember at one point in our lives we must experience true peace and harmony. For many of us the Lousianna Jazz and Heritage Festival is the place we find it. I recommend this vacation to everyone of any age. You will love it!
