What is the MSSC and how does it work?

The MSSC is simply a compilation of my, personally created and verified, fairway loft, rough loft, wind, breeze, elevation, lie, sand, deep grass and chipping charts put into Microsoft Excel format using simple lookup tables and if/then statements.

The MSSC was developed for use with Links Championship Edition and Links 2001 only.  It requires the user to have Excel 97 (or better) loaded in order for the calculations to work properly.

The Putting Formula built into the MSSC is the 2001 version of my popular LS2000 Putting Formula. This unique formula for calculating power and aim on putts which factors the grid steps on both sides of each putt’s center line against a pre-determined ratio (derived from a mass compilation of actual made putts at varying distances, elevations and severity of break) makes the putting portion of the MSSC its defining characteristic. The MSSC's Putting Formula has been completely verified and updated to account for the new ball physics of Links CE and Links 2001!!

The MSSC is far from perfect and its use is no guarantee of good scores. The MSSC does not account for snap, green slope, double-breaking putts, chipping lies or elevations, and other variables within the game of Links 2001. What it does do is give you a starting point around which to mold your shots based on your feel and personal experience when you simply have no clue what to hit or need a second opinion about a club choice. Hence, players must still consider factors outside the realm of the MSSC and execute their shots to be successful.

Who is this Mike Schuetz guy anyway?

I have been playing Links golf since 1996 and have been very successful. I've won tournaments using charts, using no charts, and using the MSSC. My Links resume includes victories at The CNN/SI/MPlayer Links Challenge in 1998 (Pro level), the 1999 Matchplay championship at Links Tour (Champ level), the 1998 season championship at The Masters Tour, over 20 weekly tournaments and 3 Ryder Cup appearances at Golfcom (Champ), the 2001 US Open championship at Golfcom (Pro), Runner-up at the 2000 VGA (Pro), and 5th place at the 2001 VGA (Pro). In 1999-2000, I wrote and maintained the first and most complete system of how to rank players across many different tours...The World Champ Rankings and was the author of the Mike Schuetz Putting Formula for Links 2000. Basically, I’ve been around the Links scene a long time and have won more than my fair share of tournaments. I understand the game and find pleasure in trying to quantify the programming formulae into measurable elements.
