Hats

(Important Note: I have only uploaded the glyphs I have used in practice sentences and sample constructions. Therefore, not every glyph indicated on these "source" pages is available on my website at the moment. Instead, you'll probably see a lot of these little guys, , indicating that the image can't be loaded.)

Hats probably convey more information about the wearer than any other articles of clothing. Being near eye-level, they are a natural place to display occupational, organizational, class or national affiliations. Also, being near the face -- the body part that evolution has dictated as the display case of human individuality -- hats are a natural place to identify a person's social connections at a glance.

Since hats are out of fashion at the moment, a lot of their identification duties have shifted to badges, buttons, tags and T-shirt slogans displayed on the chest. This can be awkward when, for example, your trying to decipher a woman's name tag and then you realize that, yikes, you're staring at her chest, and she probably thinks your a total swine. (Which you probably are, but still, we're trying to hide that.)
