Chapter 3: Solving Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities

Day 3: WORKSHEET 3-2 (Review) "Solving A Linear Equation for Y."
WORKSHEET 3-2 "Solving Systems by Substitution." Also ... § 3-2, p. 137, using problems # 6, 7, 15, 17, & 19, solve each system by solving for y and using substitution. Show all work.
Day 4: § 3-2 Solving Systems of Equations Algebraically. Do p. 137, # 8, 9, 11, 13, and 21 - 37 odd.
Show all work. Use algebraic techniques (graphing permitted only to check solutions).
Day 5: § 3-3 Cramer's Rule. WORKSHEET 3-3 "Solving Systems of Equations using Cramer's Rule."
Also, do p. 144, # 5 - 11 odd, 23 - 27 odd. Find the solutions (if possible) of
[2x - 4y = 1; -x + 2y = 5] and [3x + 9y = 6; x + 3y = 2] by methods other than Cramer's Rule and then with Cramer's Rule. Describe the results.

Chapter 6: Exploring Quadratic Functions

Use the table of values method discussed in-class (outlined below):
Using Tables of Values to Graph Quadratic Functions
Find the equation of the line of symmetry [ x = -b/(2a) ]
Find the vertex [ (-b/(2a), f ( -b/(2a) ) ]
Build a table of values using at least two values on each side of the vertex (total of five points)
Plot the points and sketch the parabola.
Day 3: Begin "ASTEROID IMPACT!" PROJECT. Expect approximately one week of class time.
