ALL PROGRAMS THIS SEASON WILL BE HELD AT THE JOHN ELIOT MEMORIAL HALL, 40 ELIOT STREET, RTE. 16, SOUTH NATICK
The Trustees of the Bacon Free library, the Friends of the Bacon Free Library, and the Historical Society will present a Springfest on the Library grounds. The Museum will be open and you are invited to view the new spring bulb garden and landscape plantings. There will be refreshments and entertainment by a Jazz Band. There will be a dedication of three benches, one in memory of Rita Fedderson by the Friends of the Library, and benches in honor of Anne Feen, former Library Director, and Frederick & Anne Schaller by the Library Trustees. Come enjoy an afternoon by the Charles River on our newly landscaped surroundings.
SOUNDS FROM THE PAST Robert Gee, hobbyist and collector of antique radios will talk on the history of radio and the split-up of the networks. He will display antique radios and give a presentation of excerpts from old-time radio programs. There are still some of us who remember Amos & Andy, and Jack Benny. Come and enjoy a dose of nostalgia.
The Society has reproduced two new historical maps. They are the 1899 Bird's Eye Map and a circa 1900 Walker map of Natick with properties listed by owner's name. There is now a series of Natick Center Bird's eye maps, 1877, 1887, and the new 1899. We also have the 1887 Sourth Natick, Cochituate, and Saxonville Bird's eye maps, and the Natick Bicentennial town map. All are available at the Museum.
For those of you who may have missed out there are still 350th pins and crystal anniversary paperweights available at the Historical Society and at the Bacon Free Library. Copies of the new book, Women of Natick at the Turn of the Century, compiled by Carol A. Krentzman, are available for $20.00 at the Historical Society and at the Bacon Free Library.
SUMMER HOURS From June 15th to September 7th we will be closed on Saturdays. Our weekday hours will remain the same. Tuesday evenings 6:00 to 8:30 PM and Wednesday 2:00 to 4:30 PM. We hope you will visit and bring a friend.
