The J. W. Walcott Shoe Company

This building on North Avenue was first used by the E. P. Fay Hat manufactory. In 1882, John W. Walcott and Francis Bigelow started the J. W. Walcott Shoe Company. Walcott sold to the Pratt-Reid Shoe Company, and Brennan Boot and Shoe and Natick Shoe Company later occupied the building successively. Shoe manufactories moved from location to location as space demands changed. The Duralectra Company is now on the site.
