The Birth Of The Attack

The idea of a Springfield based classic rock horn band was conceived (with the help of a few cocktails) at a fellow musician’s wedding by Carl Sittard. Carl missed the classic sounds of 1970’s Horn bands and was tired of the “synthesized” music and weak horns of most smaller bands.

In December of 1993, Carl recruited 8 musicians to form the band (without a name) and had its first (and not very stellar, we might add) practice, with just a handful of Chicago songs. The goal at this time was to have fun and just play a few outdoor concerts/festivals by performing the music that we all grew up with and sorely missed.

Right from the first gig, we were amazed at how many people were loyal fans of horn bands. With the encouragement of these early fans, fellow musicians and family members, we were convinced to upgrade this "hobby" to a serious club and wedding band. Over the next 2 years (and many crappy gigs) Brass Attack of Springfield tried out many musicians until we found a unique blend of musicians with fantastic talent and (most importantly) great people who have become very close friends.

Brass Attack of Springfield is now a staple of area night clubs and festivals, performing music not just from the 70’s, but 1960’s classics right up to today’s current hits. This high energy band has performed at many New England city festivals, ski resorts, Northeast fairs, summer resorts and regional musical events.
