And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
You shall not wrong or oppress a stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
You shall not ill-treat any widow or orphan.
If you do mistreat them, I will heed their outcry as soon as they cry out to Me,
and My anger shall blaze forth and I will put you to the sword, and your own wives shall become widows and your children orphans.
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
[Rebbe Tarfon] used to say: It is not incumbent upon you to complete the task; and you are not free to desist from it.
Pirkei Avot 2:17
[Hillel] would also say: If I am not for myself, who is for me? And if I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?
Pirkei Avot 1:14
And do not consider yourself evil.
There is no one without good.
There is no one without evil.
Each moment, you are called upon to choose what you shall bring into the world.
The choice is yours. So, too, the consequences.
