Pere Ubu wrote the book on American avant garde rock. First emerging out of their home base of Cleveland in 1975, their complex, convoluted and challenging music was totally at odds with virtually every other American act of that era. Although they found respect and somewhat kindred spirits from the burgeoning New York new wave/art scene, essentially they were (and remain) misfits and musical loners. They are, if anything, a product of their environment: a tightly knit group of musical visionaries spawned out of the wastelands of industrial Cleveland.
The Hearpen Singles collects together in one box the first four singles in original facsimile sleeves that Pere Ubu released on their own label, Hearpen. All of these extremely rare and collectable singles were recorded and released between 1975 and 1977, in limited editions of 1000 to 3000. The Hearpen Singles catches the band young but already fully developed, musical radicals inventing their own totally unique sound as they go. The first two singles feature the massive talent of their original guitar player, Peter Laughner, who died tragically young before the end of 1977. The Hearpen Singles are classic, definitive and essential Pere Ubu.

This is not an Ubutique activity. Your dealings are with the record company and nothing to do with us. So if it all goes pear-shaped...uh, caveat emptor. That said, T/K are a very decent lot.
