2003 Pan-Mass Challenge Photos

Here are several photos relating to the 2003 Pan-Mass Challenge and my crash. Click on any image for the full-size version.

The Ride

Like last year, the PMC took over 5,000 photographs, and I'm not present in a single one. Sorry! But you can check out the entire collection of 2003 ride photos here.

The Crash Site

Riders came around this corner and down the hill toward the camera. In the center of the image, near the darker patch of pavement, you can see a driveway that leads away to the left from the road. I fell just before I reached that driveway.
This photo is looking the opposite way, down the hill, in the same direction as the riders were going. You can clearly see the driveway, which now goes off to the right. At the extreme left of the picture, near the centerline of the road, you can see the pothole that probably took me down.
This is a closer look at the road surface where I fell. In all likelihood, it is the rightmost hole that caused me to lose control.

Injuries

Note that these are a little gross. If you're squeamish, don't look at the full size images!

This photo shows the road rash on my right hip.
This photo shows the bruising and abraison on the front part of my right forearm.
This photo shows the (sutured) dime-sized puncture wound on the inside of my elbow. You can also see the swelling and bruising of my elbow, and the abraison on my forearm.
