Added the new 'Unclassified' category to allow me to add links that don't have an official place to live yet.
Added the new 'Intraday' category to differentiate between links browsed once-a-day and more frequently.
About time for another massive link verification.
Another change you hopefully won't notice is the transition of the database and CGI scripts from one server to another. Though you might start seeing the missing background image again!
Finally got around to making the Springboard smart enough to deal with special characters within captions and descriptions, so I don't have to type in the special escape codes. And blew away the useless "Misc" category.
You won't notice it at all, but I moved the code behind the Springboard to another location. Should be fairly uneventful!
Did a major link verification, deleting more than two dozen dead links and updating URLs for more than six dozen!
Fixed page titles which were incorrectly displayed in the new/updated lists.
Fixed duplicate links being erroneously displayed in the new/updated/deleted lists.
The enhancements just keep comin'! Added the new Cool!!! category, listing the absolute best of the best!
Check it out! Now you can just download Orny's Springboard and import all the links into your browser's Bookmarks/Favorites folder! It's more fun than working for a living!
Maintenance functions have all come together now, and there have been a *lot* of links updated, added, and deleted. Added ability to view the list of new, updated, and deleted links (again, in the past 60 days).
Added Updated! flag to automatically appear on all links that have been changed within the previous 60 days, and changed the New! flag to the same time interval. Also been coding additional maintenance functions, so that the list is actually maintainable!
Added New! flag to automatically appear on all links that have been added to the Springboard within the previous 30 days.
Added Front Page link, divider between special and normal categories, category titles on links page, site descriptions and formatting on links page, and top of page link in category list.
Welcome to the nouveau Springboard! The springboard is now entirely database-driven, as an experiment with MySQL, which will be going up on DargonZine's new site in the near future.
What's different? Well, the big difference is that there'll be daily updates, rather than sporadic monthly or quarterly updates. You'll also be able to see new links in their own section or highlighted in the topical sections, and see a section with links which are being de-activated. You'll also see major changes and enhancements on this cover page, as they occur. Pretty posh, eh?
Of course, this will all come over time, but it's on the way, and much of the functionality is there now. Check it out!
