DON SPICEHANDLER

Spicehandler saw first light in the early 1950s just down the hill from Grant's Tomb. He spent most of his childhood in Paris and in 1970 returned to America to study linguistics and library science at the University of Wisconsin--Madison. Eventually Don returned to New York where he has worked for years as an academic librarian.

Rolling NYC derives its name from the nature of Don's work, namely, photography taken on the go, from taxis, from buses, etc. As the great Cartier-Bresson once said, "You got to have zee angle."

Spicehandler's moving photography may also be seen at XCP: Streetnotes, Summer 2003.
