George Bowman has practiced Zen for thirty-four years. His primary teachers are Zen master Seung Sahn and Joshu Sasaki Roshi. He has also practiced with Maezumi Roshi, Eido Roshi, Aitkin Roshi, and Kobun Chino Roshi.

He has studied and taught in China, Korea, Japan Europe and the United States.
Currently, he resides at the Furnace Mountain Zen Center in Kentucky. He travels monthly to the Boston area where he leads sesshin for the Single Flower Sangha.
  Teaching
George's teaching is both deeply rooted in the teachings of the old Zen masters and totally in the moment. During sesshin, he presents teisho (spoken teaching) of about 45 minutes each day, starting with the reading of a passage from Dogen, Rinzai, or Mumon or another master and passing back and forth from the text to the events of his and our lives.
