Things that go *squish* (crude, I know)

In my tenure as a meditech on CrystalMUSH, some issues have come up that are ... sensitive. So, in the interests of getting opinion on this matter, I decided to post another WWW page. If you have other issues, please feel free to +mail/E-mail them to me (Quinn) and I'll see about adding them.

Please note that these issues are not ones for abuse, but actual questions that have been posed either by myself or to myself.

Do female adapted GuildMembers suffer from PMS and/or do they still ovulate (albiet with sterilized eggs)?

I would assume that the symbiont, in altering the normal sexual drives, would also change the structure of the female's reproductive system. I doubt that a female guildmember would ovulate, and likely would have gone through an extremely quick variant of menopause as a part of the adaptation period. As for suffering from PMS, isn't that a constant condition of being a singer, anyhow? (smirk) Seriously, though, without normal menstrual cycles, PMS should not be a problem with a female Guildmember. It makes for good RP, though.

If a female adapted Guild Member is a virgin before her adaptation (more specifically, if her hymen is still intact), does her hymen regenerate like any other injury does?

I have been led to believe that very few if any female virgins actually have their hymen intact for their first sexual expirence. I have been told that it can come unintact through the use of tampons or in some cases from being jostled around often like riding a horse for example. I'm not a doctor, nor have I studied this subject. I am a virgin however and my hymen is not intact.

In the 90's very few females have this problem, not because of the lack of virgins but because gymnastics, ballet, strenuous stretching, horseback riding, bicycling and other such 'sport' activities generally rupture this delicate membrane. As mentioned previously tampon use can cause this, as can the use of 'toys' which can still classify one as a virgin since that is based on a two or more partner sexual experience. Masterbation can also cause the membrane to not be intact.

Even in real life, people slowly heal from injuries. However, the hymen, once broken, never heals. This being the case, I would assume that, once broken, the hymen would not heal. It's unnecessary. Besides, if you go by Anne McCaffrey's writing, any singer in the ranges at dawn will experience crystal song, and it can have interesting "side effects," especially if it's a duo in the Ranges. Taking that as a given, even if it started regenerating, it would never have the necessary time to heal. In the case of a non-Singer, who does not experience crystal song in that manner, while it could have time to heal, I still doubt it would for the reasons I mentioned above.
