You need a Bus Pass.

Effective August 1, 2004 you will need a pass to ride the bus. The bus pass will be $1.00 per ride for thirty rides. The drivers will punch your pass for each ride. There will be a special fare for those going to the Senior Citizen Center. For a roundtrip ride to the Senior Citizen Center your pass will be punched only once.

Where to buy your pass.

You may purchase your bus pass in the Senior Citizen Center’s office.

You may also purchase a pass through the mail. Send your check, made payable to the “Senior Citizen Center” and a self addressed, stamped envelope to:

Please allow a week to receive your pass by mail.

If you need assistance in purchasing a pass, proper consideration utilizing certain eligibility criteria will be discussed with you.

How to book a ride:

· Call the Senior Center at 431-8677, from 8 a.m. till noon the day before your ride.

· The vans rides throughout the City of Portsmouth between the hours of 6 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. Except on legal holidays.

· No appointments for transportation will be scheduled between noon and 1 p.m. This is the driver’s lunch hour.

· You must be ready fifteen (15) minutes before your pick-up time. If you are not there the driver will go to his next scheduled ride.

· If you must cancel your ride please call 431-8677, as soon as possible.

· If Portsmouth schools close due to a snowstorm, we will also close. Listen to the local radio stations.

How you can help the driver.

Please do not talk to the drivers while they are driving.

Be ready fifteen minutes early.

Shoppers should not have more bags than they can carry. Limit: we suggest three bags or less each week.

Please do not save seats.

Please do not ask anyone to move from a seat.

Please no eating or drinking.

Remember to thank your driver. Portsmouth is a very busy place, which makes driving a stressful job. Please let the drivers know how much you appreciate their help.
