"Invest in People"

Welcome -- if you are interested in contributing your time and skills to the Senior Center, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at (603) 431-8677 for information on how you can help today!

Please note: If you are under the age of 10, you must be accompanied by an adult for volunteer activities.

Opportunities Regularly Available

Food and Fun with Seniors
The Center serves lunch to sixty-five seacoast seniors every day. There are many ways you could help us, help them. Whether it's helping to prepare the food, or serving lunch or cleaning up after the meal, the seniors would appreciate you being there.

We are looking for help for an hour or two, one day a week or as many weekdays you would like. Prep work is done 9 AM until noon when lunch is served. Clean-up is finished by 1:30 PM. (Note: you must be physically active to perform the tasks needed for these lunch duties.)

Arts and Crafts
Do you have knowledge of or experience with any arts or crafts that you would like to share with seniors? Yarn and needlework, painting...whatever your skill, we would like to talk to you about how it might fit in with our arts and crafts program here at the Center. We welcome you any time of the year, although a special need for volunteers in this area is wanted for holiday season crafts.

Computer Classes
The Senior Center has two computers available for anyone to use and practice the computer. In the future we would like to have computer classes. Check this site for more information.

Profiles of Past and Present Volunteers

Kathleen Hansen has volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center for over twenty years. Her main duties are with Judy Burnell, the Director of the Senior Center. Kathleen has also pitched in wherever needed -- even washing dishes at the Center when it was on Deer Street when thirty to forty people came a day, so there were a lot of dishes to wash. She has helped the Senior Center get ready for special parties by decorating and also plays "Scrabble" with other seniors. Kathleen has volunteered even though she also helps a brother who is not in good health.

Melody Chapman has been a volunteer in the kitchen for the past six months and says: "Thank you so much for allowing me to work there. I like everyone very much. I hope to be able to do it for a very long time."
