This section of the site is dedicated to the geneology of my maternal
grandmother Maguerite Ray Albertson.
Marguerite died before I was born and I know her only from pictures.
I imagine she had a rough time bringing up four children as a young
widow in the Great Depression.
She was from Bridgeton, New Jersey, a place I visited once, not
knowing it was her home. I fell in love with the area -- beautiful
South Jersey farmland. When I win the lottery (which is not going
to happen since I don't play) I'm going to buy a farm down there
and when I need some big-city diversion I'll set up a produce
stand at a Philadelphia or Brooklyn at farmer's market, just like
the Saturday Farm Market at Grand Army Plaza by my home, where
I am always careful to visit the farm stand from Bridgeton. I
haven't gotten up the courage to ask the propietor if he knows
any Albertsons still in that place.
