Feb 13
Sunday night was one of the most horrible nights Mommy can remember. Rachel woke up shortly after arriving home from Grandma's...around 11:30pm. She was fine until 1:30am when she start to cry...Mommy gave her some Mylicon...no help; orajel...still no help; tylenol...crying continued. She calmed a little when Daddy bounced and swinged her, but continued once the motion stopped. Mommy took her outside at 3am so Daddy can get some sleep, but she was bawling so hard that Daddy was unable to leave her alone. When she wouldn't calm down even during the bouncing and swinging, Mommy and Daddy gave up and let her cry it out. Eventually, she fell asleep on Mommy around 5am, but let out a big scream when Mommy tried to put her down...she ended up sleeping on Mommy for about an hour; screamed again when Mommy tried to put her down...this time she wouldn't stop...Mommy tried Mylicon and Tylenol again, but no success. She finally settled down and fell asleep around 9am. Poor Daddy, had to go to work with practically no sleep. Mommy cancelled her PT session, the little piggie needed some rest. Mommy and Rachel slept most of the day...so it wasn't surprising for Rachel to be up again that night. She started fuss around 10pm...Mommy was quick with the orajel and tylenol this time and she calm down and took a nap for an hour. Mommy sent Daddy off to bed early...early for him anyway. By midnight, Rachel was fussing again, but calmed down after some orajel...definitely teething on the bottom left! She had a power nap 10-15 min on Mommy around 1am...woke when Mommy put her down...another dose of orajel around 3am...finally fell asleep by 5am...Mommy was able to put her down half hour later. Mommy had an u/s appointment in the afternoon on Tues and decided to be bold and leave Rachel with Grandpa and UncleF while Daddy went with Mommy. Little brother's doing just great...growing as he should. Rachel was very nice to Grandpa & UncleF...she fell asleep after her feed...slept until Mommy & Daddy were back...3.5 hours later as they were stuck in traffic for an hour...hmmmm...Mommy's thinking she should leave her with other people more often :-). They stayed for dinner as the next day was Chinese New Year! (Kung Hei Fat Choy...good fortune and prosperity). Rachel was a little cranky before they left Grandpa...too tired, but can't sleep b/c of all the people. She fell asleep shortly after the car hit the road (11pm)...slept all the way home...woke for a little bit after getting home, but Daddy was able to sooth her as Mommy went straight to bed. She woke again around 4am with a dirty diaper...went back to sleep shortly after Mommy changed her...until morning...all in all, not a bad night...hope it's the beginning of her pattern shift. Mommy stayed up till 4am with Rachel on Wed. She was very happy...blowing raspberries and laughing herself silly in the swing. She was still happily awake when put down between Mommy & Daddy...Mommy promptly dropped off the dreamland...nobody knew if Rachel slept any, but she was awake when Daddy got up around 8am. Mommy took her so Daddy can go to work. She finally conked out at 9am. She was up late again on Thurs...around 3-4am, but on Fri she slept pretty well...11pm to 3am...4am to 7am. Sat was a busy day. Everyone was up early to prepare to attend a wedding (friends of Mommy & Daddy). It was to two hour drive to Brooklyn Propsect Park Conservatory, made longer by pothole repairs on the FDR (2 of 3 lanes closed at mid-morning...ridiculous!) which made them missed the beginning of the ceremony. The remaining of ceremony was lovely and the reception afterwards delightful. Rachel had a grand time, only fussing a little when stuck in traffic. She was great at the wedding...dancing in her stroller. She was a bit tire by the end, fussed a bit in the car before falling asleep for the rest of the ride home. She slept great...almost around the clock...till 5am, waking once around midnight for diaper change. With a good night sleep, Rachel was very happy on Sun...Mommy decided to take her to mall. She was very happy...even get to sit in her stroller for 10-15 minute periods. She ended up having only 10 min power nap just as they reach home all day and was out soundly by 9pm.
For no apparent reason, Rachel had a few spit ups this week; 3 on Tues, 1 on Wed, and 1 on Sun. It's been quite a few weeks since her last spit up...perhaps it's time to increase her Zantac dosage.
Rachel had one PT session...her foot splints (AFO) were all done...the cutest things! The therapist worked a little on standing, showed Mommy where to support her. She was such a big girl standing straight...Mommy can't wait for the port-a-stand.
Rachel's 12lbs 3oz...gained 3ozfrom last week.
Rachel gets 20-22 oz/day with 1 tbs fruit/veggie/meat at each meal, 1/2-1oz juice/day, 4mg Furosemide (Lasix)/twice daily, 25mcg Lanoxin (Digoxin)/twice daily, 1cc Zantac/twice daily, and Mylicon
Week 79
Feb 4-
Feb 6
Rachel turned 18 months! Thats 1.5 years...amazing little girl! Unfortunately, Rachel had some horrible nights starting on Thurs. She woke crying around 3am...Mommy had no luck calming her down...Daddy woke up to help...with a lot a bouncing and swinging, she finally settled down near dawn. Poor Daddy, late for work again! Fri. night, Daddy stayed up with her until around 2am...she was up again at 3am...Mommy took her outside so Daddy can get some sleep. She finally fell asleep again around 6am. Rachel got her first hair cut on Sat.! Daddy was very reluctant to let Mommy do it, but Rachel's hair has gotten just too unruly. Mommy thought she did a pretty good job ;-). On Sat. night, Rachel took a nap between 10-11pm and was wide awake...Mommy stayed up with her...she took a 10-15 min power nap at 3am; another on at 4am; woke up both time when Mommy moved to put her down. Daddy got up at 7am to take over..she finally conked out around 8am. It was a nice warm weekend...in the 50s...unfortunately everyone was too tired to go out. Mommy & Daddy did took Rachel down to Grandma's (1.5hr away)for dinner Sunday...in observance of Chinese New Year next week. She was a little fussy going down, but calm down right before getting there. She was great at Grandma's...checking out her aunts and uncles and playing with Grandma. No fuss during the drive home either for a change...she fell asleep for most of the ride.
