Friday, March 07, 2008 7:37 AM Hello Scouters! Below is the conversation I had with our Dive Instructor regarding testing, specialties, and refresher. Please give me your feedback March 14th so that I may compile your responses and share with the remainder of the group. --- We usually teach the following five dives - U/W Navigation, Wreck Diver, Night Diver, Deep Diver, Search & Recovery/Light Salvage. To save buying lights etc, I would suggest doing an U/W Photography dive ( I have a couple of cameras you can borrow for the dives) instead of the Night Dive. You need to read only the first chapter and then the chapter pertaining to each of the five dives that we will make. Each student must turn in a knowledge review for the first chapter and each of the dives. If you wish to read the entire book you are more than welcome to do so, but it is not required. We will go over the knowledge reviews for each of the dives and chapter one at the dive sight during the training dives. If you need a refresher we can set up a pool session for you earlier in May. 1. What are your recommendations for the five AOW specialties? I could not remember which ones are required by you. I stated Orienteering and Deep Water. If I am mistaken, please clarify. 2. Regarding the modules in the book; do we study just the specialties we are participating in or the entire book? 3. How do we test ourselves? There are the quick reviews we understand. I believe we are asking about the Knowledge reviews. 4. Do you know if you are able to provide some pool time as a refresher? http://www.scuba507.org Michael K Klecka Crew Advisor 507
