Minden Plan for Prosperity Draft Report

The community is starting a planning process to guide future development decisions for Minden. The planning is sponsored by your neighbors who serve by appointment on a citizens advisory committee (CAC). The CAC is inviting Minden residents, property owners, and businesses to participate in the preparation of the plan.

As we all know, Carson Valley is experiencing dynamic growth in terms of population and business activity. The special qualities of historic Minden are coming under increasing pressure. Larger franchise businesses, subdivisions, and roadway improvements could radically change the way we look and our quality of life.

We have some challenges. How will we reenergize our historic downtown-shopping district? What should happen on the old Minden flour mill/Bently property? What types of new businesses, services and jobs do we want in Minden? What should new commercial and residential development look like? Should we preserve our historic buildings and neighborhoods? How these questions are addressed in our plan will lay the groundwork for Minden investment for the next 20 years.

Over the next several months, the CAC will sponsor four community workshops. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss what they value about Minden, what type of future they want, and how to implement the community's plan. The CAC invites you to participate in creating this important plan. We feel this will be a plan of our generation that demonstrates commitment to our values and prosperity.

Sincerely,

Minden Strategy for Prosperity Citizens Advisory Committee
