For sale: One near-mint condition Japan Radio Company NRD 545 HF/Shortwave radio. Includes original manual.

Asking price: $1,800.

This is the "Rolls Royce" of shortwave reveiver, a legendary radio, used models of whicht rarely appear for sale in the U.S. When they do appear, most come from pawn shops are estate sales, where the history of the radio is unknown. I, on the other hand, am the second private owner of this unit, and have owned it since 2007, and have used it less than 50 hours during that entire time. This unit is about as close to perfect as you'll get in terms of both looks and functionality.

• Triple conversion circuit with IFs at 70.455 MHz, 455 kHz and 20.22 kHz

• 40-bit extended floating point Digital Signal Processor with an 18-bit over-sampling system A/D converter and a 16-bit D/A converter.

• Variable bandwidth from 10 Hz to 10 kHz in 10 Hz steps.

• DSP is used to control passband shift, noise reduction, beat canceller, notch filters, squelch and AGC.

This radio's serial number is 06345, which means that it has the latest firmware which corrected audio problems in early manufactured models.

The radio is located outside of Boston. I would prefer to sell locally, but I will ship at the buyer's expense. Estimate around $40-$50 for shipping, due to the need to add extensive insurance.
