First we all realize at this point that nothing can proceed until the newly aligned phase 1 is completed. One family remains in that phase. And reports of their buy out vary according to whom you speak too. First the owner claims he is not even close to accepting the city's current offer. Whereas the city claims they are about to acquire. Owner/occupants of phase 2 worry about phase 1 demolition. Residents fear demolition could affect their homes. They also fear if phase 2 is passed over and the next flood event the City would take their homes by condemnation. November 3rd MSA Chairman got unofficial information from a high source in city administration, that phase 2 may be dropped since they have no money. November 5th MSA sources in the Federal Government revealed to us the money for phase 2 only awaits a signature for the City to acquire. In January of 2001 MSA seeks to en-list the aid of our allies in City Council to help acquire the information we need to feel secure in our position. MSA shall be reaching out to City Council voicing our concerns and reports of security needs. As well as asking for help in resolving our questions concerning phase 1 completion and the status of phase 2 if it exists at all. With aid from the Trenton Council of Civic Associations behind MSA we are hopeful that our issues can be addressed. This holiday season MSA wishes all a safe and happy time. This Thanksgiving Season lets be joyful we are well and God has blessed us with the power of looking out for each other in times of need. Let us relish this time in the twilight of this community. |
