Mulberry Street Association Welcomes Congradulates George W. Bush The 43rd President of the United States of America!

To the Honorable President of the United States of America George W. Bush:

Mulberry Street Association represents the legacy of "responsible, compassionate people grounded in civility" who came to call Mulberry Street, in Trenton, New Jersey their home. Generations of Americans who are loyal tax-payers with a pride second to none in where they live. Who stand united in the twlight of a community caught in a stalemated mitigation.

Nov. 1999 Initial But-out offers received by Phase 1 owner/occupants.

Owner/occupants shocked, dismayed, and even threatened with condemnation. Buy-out offers do not even allow recouping a quarter of investment!

MSA through its Federal sources find out money was no issue and can not verify rumor City remains silent.

January 2001 City remains silent MSA membership remains solid in its position for an equitable solution to this mitigation.

MSA's owner/occupants are prepared to face yet another flood season with hope that this spring this mitigation will finalize

Mr. President the above table shows a mitigation flawed and fallible. While the victims await yet another storm.

MSA asks not for a hand out, but we the members of MSA do insist upon an equitable solution. Whereby the elderly members can hold on to the last remaining dignity they know and that is being the owner of their home.

They understand that mitigation is not meant to make them whole again. But the buy-out offers they did receive did not allow them to recoup a quarter of their investment in property. This after being strung along all their life, by the words "meaningful flood prevention is being studied".

Mr. President the Mulberry Street Association offers an open invitaiton and challenge. MSA will welcome you to see for yourself our community. We will show you how we are striving to face with dignity and civility the ultimate demise of our homes and community we loved and shared for so many years.

Mr. President we challenge you after seeing and hearing the words of grandmothers and the elderly living upon fixed incomes. That government on all levels is doing right here in Trenton, New Jersey. We are confident Mr. President that you would come to the same conclusion MSA did and would understand why we formed!
