Mulberry Street Association wishes to extend it warmest holiday greetings to all. We also add a special wish for all those whom lost loved ones in the tragic events of September 11th that befell our country. That they may find peace and comfort in 2002.
Mulberry Street Association as it enters into the year of 2002 finds most of its membership. Has settled with the mitigation of Mulberry Street, and has complied. Yet there are a few who has taken it upon themselves, namely Mrs. Ozzilee Jackson is still the last remaining member who is still on Mulberry Street. Due to the possible predatory lending practices that have yet to be settled in court. This factor is holding up the demolition of phases 1&2 of the mitigation.
The leadership of MSA is very concerned over this, yet their hands are tied due to the Jacksons decisions in settling this matter through the courts. We are aware that houses are still open and the Jacksons face additional hardships and safety issues. The hardships they face are from squatter's within now City owned properties. The safety issues they face are the dangers of possible fires set by these squatter's in attempts in keeping warm this winter. Not to mention the fear they face of breaking and entry into their home by these squatter's. These properties are also being used by drug addicts and prostitute's. MSA's prays these issues will be addressed as quickly as possible.
Shown above are pictures of the homes of the Chairman and CoChairman of MSA. They have found these homes in Villa Park of Trenton, NJ. They both are still active in community matters of Trenton. And are free of the worry of flooding issues that has haunted them previously. The Chairman still is the Outreach Director of the East Trenton Community Council, and the CoChairman is now the Corresponding Secretary of the Trenton Council of Civic Associations.
MSA as 2002 progress's shall report upon the progress of the demolition as well as the location of its membership as the year unfolds.
