One year has nearly passed since former owner/occupants have left is Phase 3 coming?
Was it all a snow job? As a former resident I can recall how the City pressured us
into accepting buy-outs. Citing specific deadlines that had to met in order for us to comply
with this Federally Mandated Mitigation.
What of Phase 3? Which concerns itself with 3 businesses upon the banks of Assumpink. Are
these owners facing the same pressure owner/occupants were facing? From the photos above
taken nearly a year after Phases 1 & 2 were completed we feel there will be NO Phase 3!
We understand that moving businesses is abit more complicated than buying out owner/occupants.
But the time in-between is very painful for those who hold fond memories and a life time of
investment in rebuilding after flooding events. Owner/occupants are not asking for anything
but closure. Closure for us will be the City and State holding true to their word about
Phase 3.
The details of this Mitigation is a matter of public record. And so far the City and State
have been woefully slow in sticking to its own policy. The Mayor seeks to revitalize Trenton.
Yet his vision will fall short through no fault of his own but rather the painfully slow delivery
of services.
