Mulberry Street Association is uncovering a disturbing trend in government philosophy. Where guidelines are constructed in such a manner as to preclude certain rights of its citizens. In favor of benefiting certain groups of people whose influence is far more reaching than the average citizen.
Mulberry Street Association understands and recognizes the need for guideline rules of policy and procedure. What we are attempting to show is that perhaps these guidelines need to be looked at to determine if it is fair and equitable rule for all concerned within this process. This not only applies to local government but to all levels of government.
Mulberry Street is currently involved in flood hazard mitigation. This mitigation involves the Federal government then includes the state and all local evels of government as well. With each level of government having its own guidelines concerning this process.
What Mulberry Street Association is finding is a recurring pattern of rigid rules whose origin remains a mystery to us. When we inquire as to the origin, its stated that this is just the way it is. Yet these rules are having a devastating impact upon our lives.
Mulberry Street Association is saying we have an unique opportunity to modify this philosophy to suit the uniqueness of this situation that it attempts to rectify. If such an undertaking were adopted it would rekindle the spirit in Of the People, For the People, and By the People!
What Mulberry Street Association is saying, is why must these guidelines be so rigid for what it appears to be only for some? Are they not mallable? Is there no room for revision? No room for compromise? No room to go above and beyond, for a group of loyal tax payers who has been suffering long enough with false hope, and misinformation?
Has our government process become so insensitive not to realize and admit that errors were made in the executing of these rules? Anyone outside of this process can see that clearly something is amiss. Something went wrong. Someone is covering up an error that is affecting the very lives it proposes to help. In essence if government continues upon its current path it shall victimize the victims even further. And the true victims of this process are the owner/occupants of Mulberry Street!
