HONORS & AWARDS

Received nationally and abroad from literary organizations in New York, New Jersey, New Mexico, England, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and elsewhere.  Fiction Writer-in-Residence (under full scholarship), Montalvo Center for the Arts, CA.  Twice won creative writing teaching fellowships through manuscript competitions, University of Colorado, Boulder. "Tell The Judge" was one of three stories (of 1100 entries) considered for first prize in Mississippi Review's National Fiction Competition, judged by former New Yorker editor Veronica Geng; the story was published as Finalist in Mississippi Review's Prize Issue ("Rollover" was also a Finalist.)  See manuscript descriptions below for additional Honors & Awards.

MY LIFE AMONG THE MURDER VICTIMS (stories; 234 pp.)
More than 60% published.  Two previously published stories won CENTER Magazine's National Fiction Competition and were republished by CENTER PRESS as the chapbook 2, a project funded by CCLM/New York State Fund For The Arts; the chapbook was cited in Pushcart as Outstanding Work.

LAVENDER MONKEYS (stories; 281 pp.)
Finalist (one of three) in the Illinois State University National Fiction Competition. The story "Le Radio Paste" received High Praise in a Nelson Algren Award Competition sponsored by Chicago Magazine.

MULTIPLE ABRASIONS (poems; 66 pp.)
More than 40% published.  Finalist, Florida State University's Anhinga Prize; William Stafford, judge.  Finalist, U. of Central Florida's National Poetry Competition.
