7 Minutes SW of the Loop East Pilsen, Chicago, Illinois (1995 - present) It takes roughly 7 minutes to ride a bike to the Loop in downtown Chicago from the eastern edge of Pilsen. This area has been a port of entry to a number of ethnic groups (Czech, Poles, Lithuanian, Slovenian, Mexican) since the early 1900s. In recent years, the neighborhood has continued to be accessible, cheap, industrial, and close to the city center. These are clear reasons why artists, musicians, transients, and new arrivals to the city have decided to make it their home. The photographs represented here are of the place and individuals who have worked, played, and lived in this neighborhood roughly 7 minutes southwest of the Loop.
