Heroic Efforts @ MCP - Chicago (1997-1998) Museum of Contemporary Photography 600 South Michigan, Chicago, Illinois 60605 November 14, 1997 through January 10, 1998 Heroic Efforts was a collaborative installation by Jesse Bercowetz and Alamo & Costello that investigated the role of the artist as hero and commodity. This project explored the various views - often inflated - on how artists are frequently mythologized in our society of contemporary artists. The roguish approach to the subject was expedited by the artists assuming high-flying "art star" roles while sumultaneously giving their artwork away free to the general public. During the course of the project, 500 limited edition keychains were hung on the exterior of the museum windows for casual passersby to take - free of charge.
Details of Bercowetz and Costello keychains posted on the exterior windows at the corner of Michigan and Harrison, winter 1997/8. More Heroic Efforts info. p3 p4 p5 (page 1 of 5) |
