Equipment Required
Although system using sound card is simplest arrangement, by far the best quality sound reproduction comes from synthesizer module
- Soundcards must have no less than 64 voice polyphony; SoundBlaster wavetable type AWE-64 or equivalent is recommended (~$100)
Computer can be PC: 386 to Pentium; Macintosh also suitable
- Few laptop/notebooks have midi interface, but Gateway 2000 does make them with midi interface. Can buy midi adapters for laptops
Keyboard can be Yamaha Clavinova or keyboards by Roland, Technics, Casio etc
Synthesizer can be Roland JV1080, SC55 or SC88 Soundcanvas, or similar by Technics, Casio, Yamaha
Midi cables and adapters by Gravis Ultrasound
To play midi files “media player” on any computer can be used
