Midi Sequencing Types
“Sequencing” is the technique for producing the midi file
Types of sequencing technique include step, scanning and real-time
Step sequencers put in each note manually, one at a time; no instrument is necessary
Scanned sequencing uses special optical scanner to scan score and put in notes
Real time sequencing uses musical instrument, eg keyboard, to input notes
Step and scanned sequences sound very mechanical, rigid tempo, unmusical, expressionless, boring to listen to unless considerable edited is done
Real-time sequences are far more realistic, expressive, musical, pleasant and some can sound even like CD recordings on good synthesizer
