Kathmandu

Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is located in a large tropical valley surrounded by mountains on all sides.   This city of over 1,000,000 people is the home for 6% of Nepal's population.  Kathmandu along with nearby Patan and Bhaktapur make up a fascinating, bustling, and rapidly modernizing metropolitan area.  The sights, sounds, and smells can lead to sensory overload.

But, the crowds, traffic, and modern trappings can quickly be left behind for nearby quiet villages and lush terraced hills.  Fortunately, aspects of customary life are maintained as the village people coax their livelihood from the land, and temples continue to provide a focal point for their lives.  The tremendously diverse terrain and its many tracks create an ideal venue for mountain biking.  Take a look inside!
