MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the WCSU Education Club is to develop in prospective educators an understanding of the education profession, to provide for a united student voice in matters affecting their profession, to influence the conditions under which prospective educators are prepared , to advance the interests and welfare of students preparing for a career in education, to promote and project human and civil rights, and to stimulate the highest ideals of professional ethics, standards, and attitudes. 

REASONS FOR JOINING THE WCSU ED CLUB

  1. Monthly professional meetings with speakers, discussions on Praxis, professional opportunities, advisement issues, current educational issues, etc.

  2. $1,000,000 liability insurance protection.

  3. Attendance at local, regional, and national conferences at reduced rates.

  4. Opportunities to gain leadership skills

  5. Several dozen supervised volunteer opportunities with recognition

  6. Linkage to people with similar interests

  7. Application opportunities for what is being learned in class

  8. Low interest rates on many items as well as Visa or Master Card

  9. Credit program with no annual fee.

  16. An opportunity to become a member of the Educational Honor Society. 

Students initiated into the Ed. Honor Society must not be certification only students.  They must have at least a 3.5 GPA and provide evidence of leadership and service through the Education Club.  They must also have succeeded in their PDS and Student Teaching Experiences.  See Dean Clark’s office for application forms during your senior year. 

Club Meetings

The date and time of Education Club Meetings are determined each semester by the officers and their schedules.  Once a day and time are established in September, the club meets on the same day of the week each month and at the same time for that semester.  All meetings are held on the second floor of the Student Center.  If you can come for only one part of the meeting this is not a problem as everyone has a different class schedule.  Each time you attend a meeting or take part in an activity you are awarded points.  With enough points you will given an award at the Apple Banquet held at the end of the year in a very nice restaurant.  Any changes in meetings will be noted on the web site.  All minutes of past meetings will also be included on the web site.
