PRIVACY

This is a non-commercial site. I am building it for the enjoyment (or amusement--or however that works out) of Internet users everywhere. Any communication with me by eMail or by any other means will be held in the strictest confidence, in perpetuity; it will never leave my hard drive.¹ eMail addresses, names or any personal information of any kind which might be disclosed to me through correspondence by eMail or any other medium will never be divulged to any third party for any reason. It will be used by me and by me alone for the purpose of collegial--or just plain routine--discussion of music, and (to quote a very funny English person) "Life, the Universe, and Everything". Naturally, my main interest in this respect is feedback from visitors to my website; comments, suggestions, opinions, anything you might care to discuss. I have been gratified [and surprised] by the number of people who have looked at my site. At first, I expected, oh, maybe, eight? And then, during the second week after my site became accessible (are they ever finished?) there were 1,050 hits on the main page. That is why I have arranged for contact by eMail, through a very polite, but very strict mail-service. It will discard out-of-hand, or hold, for my review, mail from some ISPs--e.g., ones notorious for high rates of "Spam"- traffic or other tell-tale marks in the headers, etc. This program likes me. It does not want me bothered with junk-mail, or nefarious communications of any kind. In the same way, I am active in doing what I can by various means to help protect the privacy of us all.

I am a serious privacy-advocate. My own system is protected by a number of security-measures and applications--e.g., those whose job it is to prevent nosey programs from "phoning home" to report my habits and preferences to their masters (cf., the cases of Real Networks, et al., recently in the news.)

Please feel perfectly free to write to me. I don't get out enough (composers, mathematicians, and some other people are like that) and I will enjoy hearing from you. I am a speed-typist, and a reliable correspondent. If I don't know your language, I will find someone who does, either at the university here or elsewhere, and I will answer everything that is physically possible.

¹ In the event that the hard drive should leave my computer, it will be completely "wiped" (overwritten 35 times by means of a sophisticated algorithm) or physically destroyed.
