I cannot for the life of me recall who this person was.  It seems to me that it must have been  1) P.A. MacMahon;  2) W.A. Whitworth; or 3) John Riordan.  I would give 8 to 5 that it was Whitworth, in his wonderful little book Choice and Chance (W.A. Whitworth, fifth edition, London, 1901).

Ref · 2       My dear friend Ted Donaldson points out in his inimitable, polite way, that Ms. Monroe actually made a film or two before All About Eve.  I have spoken with him about this, and he promises to send an update on this matter 'real soon now'.   Meanwhile, here is a photograph that I ran across quite by accident on the Net.  I have tried to locate the copyright, but so far it has eluded me.  I have entitled it simply, "Lovely Woman".  This is certainly the most beautiful picture I have ever seen of her.
