Spartans Open The Season
By Defeating Delaware CCC 6-1
Media, Pa - In a well played tennis match, where the final score doesn't tell the whole story, the NCC tennis team came away with a solid performance to defeat Delaware CCC in their season opener. It was a match which saw PCAA defending champion Megan Groh lose the first set in her NCC career.
In the match of the day, Delaware's Meghan Meehan had NCC's Groh on her heels at the outset by dominating the first three games of the first set and went on to win 6-4. Groh, showing the character of a champion, re-grouped, lifted her game to another level and took the next two sets 6-2; 6-2 to win the match. NCC also had solid performances from #1 Brandon Wright, #2 Cody Ruff and #2 Ashley Bennett. Northampton opened the match winning the doubles point by taking both doubles matches.

Spartans Defeat Bucks CCC For The Second Time 5-2
Newtown, PA - The Northampton CC tennis team traveled to Bucks CCC without their #2 player, Cody Ruff, and expected a difficult match this afternoon. Since everyone in the lineup had to move up a position the Spartans needed players to step up and play excellent tennis. Brandon Wright and Bryan Silk did just that. #1Wright avenged his early lost to Buck's with a well played, hard fought win and # 3 Silk played inspired tennis to win his match in straight sets. The Spartan women, Megan Groh and Ashley Bennett, continued on their winning ways by again winning their singles and doubles matches. NCC once again won the doubles point to open the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. It is worth noting that the team of Matt Sell & Silk won in a most unlikely way. They fell behind 2-7 and then went on to win the next five games to take it to a tie breaker. The Spartans won the tie breaker 7-5.

Spartans Suffer Setback at Harrisburg
Harrisburg PA - In a match which looms large in determining the EPCC Champion, the NCC tennis team had an opportunity to win the conference championship outright by defeating Harrisburg. Unfortunately, they came up a point short by losing 4-3. The match was not determined until two and a half hours after it began when Cody Ruff and Bryan Silk came off the courts. Both men played some of their best tennis of the season with Ruff winning in three sets and Silk losing in three sets. NCC needed to win both to close the match. Northampton also had a chance to win the doubles point with Brandon Wright and Matt Sell playing well together for the first time this season, but lost in a very tight match. Once again the Spartan women, Megan Groh and Ashley Bennett, cruised to victory by winning both their singles and doubles matches and remain undefeated.
