Saturday, May 1 - EPCC/PCAA Tournament - Williamsport, Pa.
NCC brought their season to an end with spirited efforts at the EPCC/PCAA Tennis Tournament held at the West End Tennis Club in Williamsport, Pa. In men's singles, George Stamets made it to the semi-finals by defeating Brad Mitchell of Penn College 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. Stamets lost in the semi's to eventual tournament championship Chip Diem of Harrisburg CC 6-2, 6-0. Gary Ferolie (N) lost in the quarterfinals to CCC of Philadelphia's James Palmer 6-2, 6-2. In women's singles NCC"s Daniele Schneider (N) lost in a hard fought match to Penn College's Christie Boyd 6-2, 4-6, 6-0. The major story for the Spartan's in the tournament was the comeback of the double's team of Biagio Trama and Brent Fella. They lost their first match in a round robin format to eventual the EPCC/PCAA Champions from Harrisburg CC. After being near elimination by dropping their first set to Penn College, they reversed course and dominated in the second and third sets (2-6, 6-1, 6-3) for the victory. For their efforts Trama and Fella finished second and were named All-State. In addition they were named to the All Tournament Team.

NCC opened the 2004 tennis season with a loss to the defending EPCC Champions. While the Spartans showed a competitive spirit they were overpowered by a very solid Harrisburg lineup. Both Spartan doubles teams played well against very tough opponents and show excellent potential.

Penn College 7 - Northampton 2
NCC loss for the second time this season to a good Penn college team. The Spartans played tough and the final score is not indicitive of the match. George Stamets (#2) and Bret Fella (#4) got into the win column with strong performances in singles. NCC lost two tough three set matches that could have gone either way.

NCC won its first match of the season by defeating Bucks County Community College 8-1. In an abbreviated match the Spartan women, Daniele Schneider and Cindy Meyers, dominated in their singles matches. Gary Ferolie won the lone men's match easily.

NCC added another win to even their record at 2-2 with one remaining match with Delaware Community College. The Spartans received three forfeit points at #1 singles, # 4 singles and # 2 doubles. George Stamets and Brent Fella won for the men while Cindy Meyers won for the women.
