Biagio Trama & Shawn Robertson Win The Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association Doubles Championship.

Williamsport, Pa. - The Nothampton Community College doubles team of Biago Trama and Shawn Robertson defeated Spyke Kaershaw and Dan Quimby of Penn College 6-1 ; 6-4 to win the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association Championship played at the West End Racquet Club. Trama and Robertson advanced to the finals by defeating Greg Schaffer and Ian Hay of Bucks County Community College 6-0 ; 6-0. In singles competition Northampton's Charles Miles advanced to the semi-finals before losing to Community College of Philadelphia's Aaron Palmer 6-7 (8-6) ; 6-2 ; 7-5.

Spartans Lose to Penn College 5-4

NCC opened the 2004 tennis season with a loss to defending EPCC and PCAA State Champions Penn College. The Spartans nearly pulled off the win while forfeiting two points to Penn. Northampton Freshman Charles Miles played inspired tennis against a good opponent in defeating Adam Cleland in straight sets at the #1 position . Northampton's Biagio Trama (#2) fought back from a first set deficit to defeat Spyke Krepshaw in the second set and dominated in the third. Shawn Robertson played his first match as a Spartan and defeated Derek Paulhamus in short order at the #3 position. Miles and Trama, after dropping the first set in doubles, came to life and looked strong in closing out Northampton's scoring at #1 doubles.

Spartan's Defeat Harrisburg Community College 5-2

Northampton traveled to Harrisburg Community College on Saturday and came away with a victory. The marquee match was at the Number 1 position between Charles Miles (N) and Nam Huynh. Miles and Huynh dueled it out in a excellent exhibition of tennis with Huynh prevailing in a third set tie-breaker. Miles won the first set 6-2 and Huynh evened the match in the second set 7-5. This set up the final set where Huynh won 7-6 (7-3). Northampton dominated at both the Number 2 & 3 positions and won Number 4 by forfeit. Northampton also won the Women's point by forfeit.

Spartan's Avenge Loss to Penn College Defeating Them 4-3. Take the Lead In EPCC

The Spartan's once again had strong performances from the top of their lineup winning at positions 1-2-3 in straight sets. They also won at #1 doubles to secure the victory. With the win Northampton controls their own destiny in Conference play.

Spartan's Defeat Buck's 5-2

Northampton defeated Buck's County Community College 5-2 on a cold and windy afternoon. The Spartan's won three of the five singles points with excellent play form Charles Miles #1, Shawn Robertson #3 and Larry Melley at #4. Northampton also looked sharp and dominated both doubles matches to seal the victory. This win puts Northampton in an excellent position to win the EPCC League Title for the 8th time in the past twelve years.
