Monaco
The city of Monaco is
built on a cliff facing
the Mediterranean sea.
Situated between Italy and France, Monaco
is synonymous with its majestic casino (left).
My favorite part of Monaco was the Cousteau Institute (right) which holds one
of the most elegant aquariums I"ve seen.
The entrance is on the opposite side, the third floor
from the top and you descend stone steps to enter the
aquarium. The tanks of sea animals have sea plants
that add striking colors from the Mediterranean.
Copacabana is one of many beautiful beaches in Rio de Janero. We were lucky to visit in October; it was spring there, and the heavy tourist season had not yet started. The rocks in the sea have interesting shapes;
the double peaked one in this picture is called "sugar loaf" and sits right across from the city.The buildings are almost as high as the rocks.
Peru
Macchu Picchu is an ancient city built on the top of
some incredibly steep mountains in the jungle plart
of Peru. No one knows how the huge stones of the
city
were brought to the top of the mountain. They
do know that they originated from a river below, but
they were built before wheels were invented and the
corners of the stones were hewn to perfectly match
with a water-tight seal.
Utah
Little Wild horse Canyon is a deep slot canyon in
southern Utah. The awesome rock formations make you feel very small. Then, when you consider the
ages it took for natural forces to shape the rocks,
you feel like your whole life passes by in one geological instant! Click here to see a slide show
